The Government of Canada announced it would immediately
proceed with drafting regulations to prohibit the
importation, sale and advertising of baby bottles
that contain bisphenol A (BPA) effective October
2008. It was determined that the main sources of
exposure for newborns and infants to bisphenol A
are through the use of polycarbonate (PC) baby bottles
when they are exposed to high temperature and in
this way bisphenol A leaches to infant's milk. America-based
reports indicate consumption of bisphenol A at a
low level would affect genitals, hormone secretion,
and could even cause cancers. |
